Beautiful Tanzania

It is indescribable what this country has moved in me. Tanzania is so different from anything I have seen and experienced before. Especially the people have touched me very much. But also the wild animals, which do not exist in our country at all—and they mostly live extremely peacefully with each other. The Ngorongoro Crater is like paradise for me. An incredible atmosphere: peace and contentment, beauty, a special energy and a lot to see and to marvel at. The list of things to discover here is very long. Some things are obviously special, others are worth a second look to notice the small wonders.

First Some Information for Orientation

Tanzania is located in East Africa, below Kenya, above Malawi and Zambia, directly on the Indian Ocean. Tanzania includes the beautiful island of Zanzibar. The capital Dodoma is centrally located in the country. The seat of government and the largest city in Tanzania is Dar es Salaam.

The national language is Swahili, but many people (especially in the cities) also speak English (pro forma official language). The national currency is Tanzania Shilling (TSH). 1 US dollar = 2,300 TSH

Climate

The country is large and has different climatic regions. Our lodge is located in the north of the country. There is a temperate climate, which is supported by the attitude of the lodge (1,650 m). So the climate is not oppressively humid like in other lower lying places. Usually there is a light, pleasant breeze around the lodge. Along the flat coast there is a tropical lowland climate, in the interior partly a warm desert or semi-arid climate. Rainy seasons in the area of the lodge are March to May (big rainy season) and November (small rainy season). Mostly it rains only for 1 to 2 hours and rather at night or in the morning. Due to the heat during the day, the soil dries quickly.
